Forest Bathing

Nothing makes me want to go outside more than a frosty morning with the promise of a bit of warm sun on the skin. This is certainly the time to get outside for that burst of fresh air into the lungs. Its a time where you can appreciate the first signs of spring or get into the art of forest bathing .

Forest bathing is a Japanese practice of being calm and quiet in nature to improve health and wellbeing. It’s also known as shinrin yoku. It’s taking the time out in nature to appreciate your surroundings.

So how do we do it ?

move through the forest slowly.

Breathe deeply into your abdomen

Stop, stand, or sit

Smell what’s around you

Look at nature’s small details

Sit quietly listening to nature.

Let your thoughts come and go.

What are the benefits?

Can help to de-stress

Can boost health and wellbeing

Can improve heart health and respiration.

Can reduce stress and depression

Can connect you with your mind and body.

No need to spend ages trying just have a go next time you are out on a walk see if you can feel any benefits
