Reading is in our every day. Articles on our phone, Txts, Emails and Recipes But ….
Reading a novel for pleasure is such a different experience to reading the everyday. We need to be present and focus. We use Synaptic connectivity, Deep thinking and exercising memory .
In Pilates you can go through the exercise motions but….
much like reading a novel , when you are present, focused, moving with precision and breath allowing yourself to find the flow.
This is where the magic happens ✨

Let’s talk arm technique.
When swinging the arms from the shoulders you are engaging the upper body, improving posture and forward propulsion.
Here’s the super power- when you swing the arms the lymph nodes under the armpits are being worked. This stimulates blood flow and helps the lymphatic system to support lymphatic drainage .. So if you’re feeling under the weather or you want an immune boost Grab those poles and take a brisk walk and remember swing those arms !!

As the weather gets hotter here’s some top tips to keep safe in the sun whilst Nordic walking .
Suncream
Apply a high factor suncream 20 minutes before walking.
Make sure you reapply every two hours or more if your sweating.Cover up
If you can see skin UV can reach it !
Loose fitting clothes , long sleeves or trousers with UPF 50 are ideal.
Pick a wide brim hat or cap.
Sunglasses to protect your eyes from UV and glare.Pick appropriate routes
Plan your routes on shadier paths.
If that isn’t possible make sure there are some shady spots along the way to rest out of the sun.Stay hydrated
Make sure you pack enough water for the length of your walk or plan the walk where you can refill.Enjoy the sun ☀️

Recently i have been saying yes!
I am generally a yes person. I love the new and exciting and the little bit of terror of trying something different , but I have found lately my answer has been sorry no I just don’t have time .
Working for yourself and having small children it’s hard to have boundaries without feeling guilty .I started to feel despondent and it has taken me a while to realise what I needed .I need to make time for myself.
So over the last month I set time aside to purposely say…yes !
Yes to events
Yes to people when they ask me if I want to join them for social/activity
Yes to time for myself without the guilt.
Ironically this has opened up some exciting things in my work life.
Why not try taking some time to do something you enjoy? .Perhaps a long forgotten hobby or take the plunge and try something you have been thinking about for a while . Good luck x
More importantly taking just an hour (more if you have the time ) a week completely for myself has given me back joy and peace from within. Ready to tackle any challenge that may lie ahead .

Nothing makes me want to go outside more than a frosty morning with the promise of a bit of warm sun on the skin. This is certainly the time to get outside for that burst of fresh air into the lungs. Its a time where you can appreciate the first signs of spring or get into the art of forest bathing .
Forest bathing is a Japanese practice of being calm and quiet in nature to improve health and wellbeing. It’s also known as shinrin yoku. It’s taking the time out in nature to appreciate your surroundings.
So how do we do it ?
move through the forest slowly.
Breathe deeply into your abdomen
Stop, stand, or sit
Smell what’s around you
Look at nature’s small details
Sit quietly listening to nature.
Let your thoughts come and go.
What are the benefits?
Can help to de-stress
Can boost health and wellbeing
Can improve heart health and respiration.
Can reduce stress and depression
Can connect you with your mind and body.
No need to spend ages trying just have a go next time you are out on a walk see if you can feel any benefits
